From Adam to Noah

In the above video, I read the Bible and share my notes. You can watch and read along with me if you wish or simply proceed.

Read Genesis chapter 5 in your Bible.

This passage is a “written account of the descendants of Adam.”

He had Cain and Abel and later, after Abel was murdered by Cain (his brother), he had other sons and daughters which this passage does not mention. It only mentions the lineage of one certain person through each generation. I think the reason for that is to lead us to Noah, who was in the lineage of David, who was in the lineage of Jesus.

The son of Noah who Jesus came through was Shem. (Luke 3.36)

The book of Luke in the Bible is more detailed regarding the lineage of Jesus. In Matthew 1.1-16, it is also mentioned, but why he didn’t mention Noah and started with Abraham instead of Adam, is because of the Jews among him. He wanted to show that Jesus was of a Jewish lineage because they knew Abraham was their “Father” and that their lineage started with him. They did not understand anything about Noah and Shem.

In Matthew’s account (The book of Matthew, in the Bible), it was also written to show that these men: Abraham, David and Jesus were destined for greatness. Lukes’s account was written as facts which is why he mentioned every single generation even the commoners and not only the ones who were “destined for greatness or who were well-known or of Jewish descent.”

From Luke’s point we see that all of them came from one man, Adam, as we all have come from. I also want to mention that Enoch, who is mentioned in this lineage (Genesis 5.21), is one of 2 men who didn’t die but were taken up to be with God. The other man was Elijah. (2 Kings 2.11), and that Methusalah lived to be 969 years old. He was the man in the Old Testament who lived the longest, who’s age was actually mentioned.

The Bible then leads me to 1 Chronicles 1.1-4:

The descendants of Adam were Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech and Noah.

The sons of Noah were, Shem, Ham and Japheth.

After verse 32, The Chronological Bible brings me to 1 Chronicles 1.1-4, and mentions the names of every clan starting from Adam all the way down to King Solomon.

The 12 tribes of Israel (Jacob and his sons),

King Saul (Israel’s first king who I thought was the first king ever but there were other kings from other nations) – he was just the first ISRAELITE king,

King David,

and Abraham.

Since you’re here on this page, I always want to take this time to share The Plan of Salvation. It is so important and crucial! Not only for you, but for me too. It means you get the opportunity to hear THE GOOD NEWS and that I get to share it, a command from the Lord.

Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
