The Great Flood, Dinosaurs, and Things I’m Working On

Genesis 7

When everything was ready, God instructed Noah to enter the Ark with everyone in his family. God saw that Noah was the only one in all the people on the earth that was righteous. I noticed that God included Noah’s family because of him. His family received approval because of him. Maybe that’s the context of 1 Corinthians 7.14, kind of? When I googled, “What is the difference between holy and righteous, I like what I found and I quote:

The word ‘holy’ refers to a person’s character and ‘righteous’ refers to a person’s behavior. One who is holy behaves righteously.”

So again, Noah was the only righteous person and we will see later that the covenant that God makes with him is the same as the one He made with Adam and Eve; to procreate. Now it makes sense that his family is included, otherwise how would he be able to?

Did you know that God told Noah to also take 7 pairs of animals as well? I’ve always known about the 1 pair of animals so when I read this I was surprised! The reason for that wasn’t so that they could multiply. They were for food for Noah and his family and to be sacrificed. So, these 7 pairs of animals had to be perfect, no defects, and they had to be only the kind of animals God approved for eating. All the other animals were just 1 pair of each. Aside from those animals approved for eating and sacrifice, God wanted Noah to bring along 7 pairs of every bird, male and female, to ensure that “all life would survive after the flood.” Wait – what?! Yes, in the KJV, it was “to keep the species alive”, but notice that it was only the birds!

So, 7 pairs of clean animals for sacrifice and eating, male and female, 7 pairs of birds of every kind, male and female, so the species would stay alive after the flood. Hmmm. And 1 pair of each unclean animal.

Wait, this is life and lifted hands, which means I also share what’s been going on with me. I’ve been working on myself A LOT. I’m finally understanding why I feel certain ways about certain situations. I’m working on some traumas, creating affirmations daily, taking time to list my gratitude daily, eat more vegetables, walk at least 5 times per week and do some jumping jacks. I’m getting better at making my own decisions instead of being pulled back and forth and my schedule doesn’t look crazy full because I’m learning how to manage it rather that it managing me. These are some proud moments for me!

Well, back to Noah. Then time came, when he was 600 years old, that the flood began and covered the entire earth, past the highest mountain so that everything was drowned. Noah and his family were in the ark along with all the animals. Noah didn’t need to gather them or call them or think about how to get them in there because God brought them there. They each just entered in. That flood was so mighty, so huge, that the rain itself wasn’t enough to cause that big of a flood. Some of the waters came from underground; the oceans, rivers and streams – everywhere that water was. The New Living Translation (NLT) says that, “waters erupted from the earth and rain fell in ‘might torrents’ from the sky.”

A torrent, according to the dictionary, is “A violent downpour of rain. A violent, tumultuous, or overwhelming flow.”

Violent: Using or involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.

Tumultuous: Making a loud, confused noise; uproarious.

Whoa. That’s terrifying! Even when it rains hard now and there’s thunder and lightning, just hearing it is scary! I wonder if it bothered Noah and his family at all, or did they just trust God?

Imagine the people outside banging on the ark to let them in. Noah had to hear their cries, both from the people and animals.

This is why it is “a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10.31

We can’t mess with Him! We can’t play games and think we’re going to get away with it. Man, this really hurts me because when I try to tell people the Good News, they react just like the people in Noah’s time. They don’t listen. They don’t care. They think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. God sees everything! The day will come for judgement. People need to be ready.

It’s mentioned a few times in this passage that Noah, his family and the animals, entered and were in the ark. Guess who shut the door? God did. As if the say, “Don’t worry, I will keep you safe, you and everyone and everything inside it.”

It’s also mentioned a few times how it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. It grew deeper and deeper and higher than the highest mountains on the earth. Nothing on the earth was able to escape the flood. It was so high that the ark rose more than 22 feet ABOVE THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN PEAKS! Everything died. Every person and every animal. Everything that had breath. The flood waters were there for a full 150 days. No one and nothing could escape that.

Back to my life….So, we went on a field trip and listened to a tour guide talk on and on about the life of each dinosaur. He mentioned the ages of each one being millions and billion of years old. I thought to myself, “Where did he get that? How does that compare or correlate with the Bible?” Preachers always talk about the Bible and the time Jesus walked the earth, to be 2,000 years ago. It must be more now, because they’ve been saying that since the 90’s when I first became a Christian, but certainly not millions and billions of years ago.

So, I did a google search and I couldn’t believe how much nonsense I found! I won’t get into it but my belief is that the dinosaurs died during the time of the flood and it can’t be millions or billions of years ago. That would mean that they roamed BEFORE the world began and that can’t be true. Read Genesis 1 and especially verse 1.

So, I have this post on Youtube as well. I talk like I know so much, LOL! That’s hilarious really, because I’m an introvert! But in case you want to listen to me make a fool of myself you can listen here:

And last but definitely NOT LEAST, this blog is about sharing The Plan of Salvation so it would be remiss of me if I don’t give you the link. Here is that link:

Another thing, as I reread the above about not messing with God, yes that is certainly true! But in case you came away feeling like He is a monster, that is definitely NOT what I was trying to convey.

God is ALLLLLLL LOVE.

He is the Creator of Love.

He never wants what is bad for us.

He doesn’t want us to perish.

He doesn’t want for us to go to hell.

He is NEVER the one to choose for us to go to hell.

WE.

ARE.

THE.

ONES.

WHO.

MAKE.

THAT.

CHOICE.

What God does instead, is he gives us so many chances to be right with Him. SO. MANY. As many days as we are alive. Yet, He knows what’s in our hearts and He will use that to bring about His plan. Nothing in God’s Word will ever return as void. I pray that you will make a plan to follow HIS plan.
